The Engineers of the Future Summer Institute (EOFSI) is comprised of various programs all dedicated to increasing the awareness and appreciation of the fields of engineering, across various developmental levels.  This summer, the following programs will take place as part of this Summer Institute.

EOFSI Residential Programs

    • EOF - The Engineers of the Future  6/25/06– 7/28/06
    Approximately 55 incoming first year engineering students

    • TEEM - The Engineering Experience for Minorities  6/25/06 - 7/22/06
    24 students who have just completed 11th grade

    • The NJ Governor’s School of Engineering & Technology  6/25/06– 7/22/06
    100 students who have just completed 11th grade

EOFSI Commuter Programs

    • TARGET I- The Academy at Rutgers for Girls in Engineering and Technology  6/26/06– 7/7/06
    25 girls who have just completed 6th or 7th grade

    • TARGET II  7/10/06– 7/20/06
    20 girls who have just completed 8th or 9th grade

COUNSELOR, Governor’s School, EOF & TEEM PROGRAMS - These positions are residential positions.  Counselors live in the residence hall, with the students, for the duration of the program. Counselors are expected to ensure the safety and well-being of the institute participants as well as to develop a sense of community, promote academic endeavors, support the Office of Student Development and design programs of social and academic/professional nature.  Governor's School counselors are actually Resident Teaching Assistants(RTA's) and have the additional responsibilities of guiding students with their research and developing some academic programs. All counselors are required to attend a one day training in May and additional training when they move in during the week of Monday, June 19, 2006 for EOF/TEEM/TARGET.  All counselors will be required to take a defensive driving course.  Counselors are required to stay in residence until program evaluation is completed, approximately 2-4 days after the end of the program.
Compensation: Room, board and salary.  Salary is based upon final budget analysis, to be determined.
 

TARGET TEAM LEADER -TARGET is a commuter program but the TARGET team leaders live on campus.  A team leader will be assigned to a group of four or five of the total participants.  The team leader will be responsible for those girls throughout the program, ensuring their well-being and safety, accompanying them to all program activities, and assisting them with lab and engineering projects and activities.  The team leaders will also work closely with the other team leaders in implementing recreational activities and assisting in the operation of the program. Although the participants commute each day, team leaders will live together on campus.  Applicants must be female math, science or engineering majors. Compensation: Housing, weekday lunches and salary.  Salary is based upon final budget analysis, to be determined.
 

     The Rutgers Young Scholars Program in Discrete Mathematics is a summer residential academic program for 40 high school students.  The students spend each day in both morning and afternoon classes, homework sessions, variety sessions, and recreational activities.  Students are housed Monday through Friday on the Busch Campus and students will return home on the weekends.

     The duties of the Residence Life Staff are similar to those of a residence hall staff during the academic year, including programming responsibilities.  The Residence Life Staff specific responsibilities will include monitoring of participants, planning and implementation of residential programs, facilitation of safety and security of participants.  Compensation for the residence life staff includes room, board and a stipend.  The residence life staff is required to reside in McCormick Hall, Busch Campus with the students, from July 10– August 4, 2006 (excluding weekends).  Applicants may be undergraduate or graduate students.  Candidates with prior residence life experience or former participation in the program is preferred but not required.  Attendance at a Residence Life day long training session in May is mandatory.
